East Asian Studies Diversity Statement

Welcome to the Department of East Asian Studies. We hope everyone walking through our doors feels respected and included. And we believe that our intellectual community is enhanced by a rich diversity of people from all backgrounds, with a wide range of different abilities and political perspectives. We are committed to providing the support necessary for the success of all members of our community.

Use the tabs to the left to see what East Asian Studies has been doing when it comes to Diversity and Inclusion: expanding its course offerings, understanding structural inequalities facing the US and Asian societies, creating opportunities for community building, cultivating civil discourse among diverse constituents, and increasing participation in the study of East Asia for those who have historically been underrepresented in higher education.

Please join us in our classes, at our monthly meetings, or at one of our many events on campus where we put into practice these values and commitments.
